DC

Here's why I kind of love DC sometimes. This morning I was standing on the escalator leaving the Dupont Circle Metro and I noticed this man standing in front of me with kind of rumpled clothes, torn pants, a blazer and really nice leather shoes. He was carrying two beat up plastic bags and my first thoughts were, "Homeless? Out of work? How could he afford the Metro?". I follow him down the street and realize there's a large motorcade of screeching motorcycles and cars and sirens. I quickly realized that the vice president was on his way to work. Rumpled man did too, because he threw his arm behind his head and forward, flipping his middle digit towards the limo with gusto. I think, "Awesome...this homeless guy hates this administration as much as I do". I lose sight of him for a second and then realize that he's crossed the street....to wait in line for the Georgetown student/faculty shuttle...just goes to show, you never can tell about people around here.

I think I would have enjoyed meeting that ragged gentleman. Anyone who gives the bird to Mr. Cheney is in my eyes a good person.
